The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago’s (MWRDGC) Stickney Water Reclamation Plant is the world’s largest wastewater treatment facility. This plant serves 2.38 million people in a 260 square mile area including central Chicago and 43 suburbs. The plant’s design average capacity is 1.2 billion gallons per day.

This project involves modifying the existing sludge thickening facilities to improve solid capture. This consisted of replacing 16 pre-digestion centrifuges with new larger capacity centrifuges, design of three new sludge pumping stations, eight new gravity thickeners, and converting an existing sludge holding tank into a sludge blending tank.

Scope of work was for the electrical, Instrumentation and Control (I&C), and DCS Phase III – Construction Professional Engineering Services. This work included review the Electrical, I&C, and DCS shop drawing submittals; review and respond to Construction Request for Information’s (RFI’s), review of construction Request for Quote’s (RFQ’s) and Change Orders including preparing independent construction cost estimates, and design change documents.
