Project Description
CDOT Lakeshore Drive Bascule Bridge over Chicago River, Chicago, IL
Electrical Engineering Design
The Lakefront Trail is a 16-foot wide multi-use path along Chicago’s lakefront. The current path narrows to eight (8) feet wide at the east lower level Lake Shore Drive Bridge sidewalk. This project will widen the east sidewalk on the river bridge to (16) feet.
The first floor of the existing bridge houses will be utilized to accommodate the widening. The south end of the path will tie into the existing ramps. The north limit of the widening will tie into a new segment of elevated trail constructed separately as part of DuSable Park.
Responsibilities include the electrical design required for the modification to existing east towers walls and removal and relocation of the electrical equipment from rooms at the sidewalk level as well as the electrical design rehabilitation of the existing LSD Bascule Bridge.
